How N26 is preparing for Brexit

We appreciate that these are highly unsettling times for our customers in the UK.

While we can’t predict what the 31 October will bring, we want to reassure you that we’ve got measures in place to ensure it’s as painless as possible in terms of your N26 account, no matter what the outcome.

The good news is that you, as a N26 customer in the UK, will not experience any changes to the way you can use your account – regardless of the 31 October outcome.

We are 100% focused on ensuring minimum disruption to our customers whatever the outcome or timing of Brexit.

I’m a UK customer. Can I still access my account with the same features?
Regardless of the outcome between now and 1 November, N26 will continue to operate as a fully licenced bank. Your account will continue to function as normal, and you will see no changes in the app.

Will the impact change, depending on the outcome on 31 October?
Should there be an extension, or an agreed deal, your account will continue unchanged.
If the UK leaves the EU without a deal, the only material change that will impact you, is that your money would be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) here in the UK, rather than by the equivalent scheme run by BaFin (the German financial regulator). In plain terms, your money will be secured up to the limit set by the Bank of England (up to £85,000) rather than BaFin (which currently offers our customers protection up to €100,000 or the equivalent in pounds sterling).

I am an EU citizen living in the UK. Will I still be able to have an N26 UK bank account after Brexit?
Yes – EU nationals who have moved to the UK can still apply for a UK bank account.

I am a UK citizen living in the EU; will I still be able to keep my N26 UK bank account after Brexit?
Yes – you can definitely keep your account.

Can I keep using my N26 card abroad?
Absolutely! There will be no changes to the ways in which you can use your account both in the UK and abroad. You will be able to spend money and withdraw cash exactly the same as before.

What happens next?
While these are unsettling times, they will not distract us from our number one priority: delivering a Mobile Bank the world (and our UK customers!) love to use. As talks between the government and the European Union continue, we’ll keep you updated on any major developments from our end. Keep an eye on your inbox for emails from us.
